Eevaluation and Final Video

Our final idea was to have an alien pressing a light switch back and forth and changing colors every time the switch is pressed, my partner and me agreed on the storyboard and the idea to fix it up to become more simplistic and easier. But overall we managed to stick to our production schedule mostly but were needed to reshoot twice and this caused us to set us back quite a bit. If I could've improved on something it mostly be the lighting and the tentacles of the alien other than that the smoke scene could've used a sort of sound effect that established the e4's arrival.

My roles in the project were to be in model creation/designer and director of animation. Both of which I feel that I did a considerably good job on these, if I could've handled the camera better maybe the quality of filming could've been improved, but I wasn't very accustomed to the equipment which set us back a bit.

I feel that this video really fits into what our target audience wants which were comedy, sci-fi and the color blue, green and red. This generate ideas which lead towards the final outcome.

The final outcome of the work for my partner and me.

This is the Final Video for the project

My partner and me had to show this work to the class and they gave their opinions and critiques on it, these are the comments on the video from them. If I could I would reshoot this and take in and use the comments from this video to make it better. I will also back up my reasons to why I would not agree to some view on are work, or why I would agree to some.

Views of others

"This was neatly done and the idea is original, maybe more sound in the background?"

Are response to view-We feel that there shouldn't be any background sound as it will take away the impact and the attention from the sounds that the alien makes, in this case less is more and that’s why we took out the background sound.

"Needs sound effects for smoke"

Are response to view-We agree with this and we want to redo this to put the sound effect in but as for time to do this we don't have so much.

"I like the animation but you could revise the way that the e4 icon appears as it seems that some other ways that it appears could be more interesting"

Are response to view-We agree, but after the 2nd reshoot we didn't have much time to rethink of other ways. One ways that was suggested was that the lights would go out and on and the e4 would be there but we could not just have it come out simple its was a bit of a hard idea to make happen.

"The tentacles could've been modeled better or the movement could be smoother"

Are response to view- The reason why they were like that was that we wanted to let the tentacles to move around simple, but is was difficult to move the tentacles without it moving downwards ever if we placed wine with in them the plaster would still be heavy so we made them thin and simple.

Other praises for the work have like: "Fits the e4 brand identity" "Good sounds/voices" "I liked the way the eye moves around realistically"

Stage And Character Modelling development

These are the final outcomes for our modelling and set creation for our animation project. these are all the props and sets that were used in the final outcome.

Characters

The characters (which we named steve) both look similar except for colour because of the idea we had that when the alien touches the switch he changes colour, so we needed to create an identical copy so that we could switch whenever we wanted for the animation, as you can see they have the same eye looks and the same sized tentacles, and we felt that they looked similar enough.

The stage

These are different photos of the set that we created for the final animation, this is the second set that we made, as the last one was just a red box and didn't feel authentic enough and the light switch wouldn't fit properly, afterwards we made it curved and then it looked more interesting, especially when using strong lighting.

Here is the set under the lighting that we used for our animation, as you can see this was an important factor for the set. with the curve background it worked better with the camera as there was no corners and made it look less cheap and boring. also the material that we used also helped as it gives off more of a vibrant effect that paint lacked.

Idea pitch

From our research we were able to create storyboards each in which we worked on our own and combined our final ideas together in which we used to create our pitch. Both of our ideas incorporated all the research  and the results so that it would interest and reach our target audience. for the pitch we had to show and explain our idea pitch to actors posing as E4 representatives and will critique and decide around our ideas to see if it is possible to be used as a E4 Sting. The way we did our pitch was by showing them our storyboard and our production schedule.

This is the storyboard that we made after combining both ideas and the idea the we used finally in our pitch.

Production schedule
Prop Making:
-Scenery
-Organisation of where objects belong and will be moved.
-camera.
-plastercine (blue and green)
-red silk
-Carboard box

All Filming time must be 10 secs long!

Roles:
All roles will be split evenly between both partners. (apart from scene 2 where one of us will be the moon and the other is in charge of animation and camera.)

Location
Man made sets, Upstairs studio would be best for lighting.

Editing:
Editing will be down to both to choose appropriate music and transitions. Though music will defiantly be a rock soundtrack at the end of the animation.

End Comments:
Make sure to take opinions from audience and write conclusion for animation referring to said, comments.

Time Allowed for shooting:
We feel its best to start as soon as we finished all the sets and the models, which we aim to be finished on 4th October want to start shooting as soon as possible after the models.

Time allowed for Editing:
We want at least 2 Days editing so that we can give the best potential for effects, sound effects and anything that can make the animation better, the soundtrack will either come from a friend who plays guitar, or will be from garage band.

Time allowed for Re-shoot and re-Edit: We think that 4 days should be more than enough time to reshoot the scenes and edit them as we ill have the sets still ready and the models, just in case.
