E4 research

E4 is a channel that is created by Channel 4 on a Digital network that stared in 2001.

The main reason for this was to appeal to a new audience, with show like the home of Misfits, Skins, Hollyoaks, One Tree Hill, The Inbetweeners and many more they also get shows from the US, the main genre of programmes that are featured on E4 are Sitcoms, or Teen Dramas, Showing the sublime immaturity of it's audience as these are the types of Shows that young people as a general are interested in. This allows Channel 4 to focus on the more mature and different audience while E4 captures that Young Majority. 

E4's icon has become a house name due to it's unique design of taking inspiration from the channel 4 logo while incorporating a colour scheme that is not used much in other TV channels, allowing people to remember the channel easier and also allowing themselves to be recognised instantly when promoting a new show or a new Sub-Channel, such as E4+1, created by E4 that shows the regular Programme schedule one hour behind, allowing another chance for people to watch their favourite programmes. 

The way their target audience is captured is where their programmes features situations that relates to their audience, for example: The Inbetweeners follows 4 teenage friends in their school and gets themselves in Various embarrassing situations, this could be relatable to a wide and spread out demographic to those who are currently in education, to those who have been to school. this type of "targeted Programming" has proved to be effective as it has been nominated for various awards.

The Idents have also proved to get caught into people's attentions as they are built as a bridge from the adverts to the programming, and they capture people's attention by showing a chaotic and surreal scenario.

The inbetweeners is one of the examples of programs that e4 shows to their audience it is comedy based aimed and at teens as it follows the lives of teenaged boys in school.

hollyoaks is a soap opera that deals and recreate real life situations it also brings up issues like family problems, divorce, cheating and other real life situations that people encounter everyday. 

Reality shows are also on the line-up on the E4 schedule but most of them are competition based including the example above, this could be effected different as it targets a very small spread of people who find interesting in this subject or programme. people could be interested in this type of realty show, but it's based on where it is shown and what time it is shown.
